When horses work hard or in hot weather, they regulate their body temperature through sweating. This not only leads to a loss of fluids through evaporation, but also of essential body salts, particularly sodium, potassium, calcium and magnesium. Failure to replace these body salts (called electrolytes) can lead to fatigue and, in extreme cases, damage to muscles, bones and cartilage tissue. Electro Salts is a concentrated formula of essential plasma salts combined with dextrose to promote better absorption. Electro Salts should be administered after exercise, heavy sweating or during periods of very hot weather. ElectroSalts can be easily mixed into the ration or dissolved in water. Make sure fresh, clean water is available at all times.
